When import file from design to drafting drafting freezes. tried condensing file so only importing sections. wanting to turn design into sheet metal component. V2.4.3 have saved out individual layers as dxfs and tried importing seperately
You're welcome! No worries at all, you're doing well with it! That's quite a nice design you have going and it helped me find a few shortcomings which I believe are now solved.
Ah, that makes sense, I didn't consider that as being a possibility when I designed it. Now the Join tool and auto-close & join (right click on a selection, multi-selection, or group selection) will chain and close them back up to close shapes
Just keep in mind that Drafting is mostly for mechanical work and if you try to extrude a complex artistic design like you have in Design, that takes an extreme amount of computing horsepower once things start hitting the B-rep engine (The 3D side of things). My workstation rig is pretty decently spec'd and it can't extrude your design into a solid and I also tried in Autodesk's Fusion 360 (Semens Parasolid B-rep engine) and it can't do it either here. In fact, F360 completely choked in sketch to the point it was unusable so we have them beat performance wise there because JC3 sketch edit was very usable once I fixed the bug class that your issue originally called out. Scott told me a little bit about what you're working on here and you'll be able to build it by modeling the 3D sheetmetal folding first without all the cutouts in it, just the outline essentially, then move that flat pattern into Design to add all the artwork. Then go from Design to Plasma to cut it.
Always feel free to reach out here! I'm trying to bring on more help here on the community forum as we grow the user base and as we gain more users other's can hop on and help others out as well.
