Torch Selection & Cut Charts

Oxyfuel is cut-chart driven, exactly like Plasma. You select a torch on the machine's Torch tab and JetCad3 generates that torch's factory cut charts; from then on every toolpath and every posted program reads its numbers from the chart row matching the plate you are cutting. Nothing about how the machine cuts is typed in by hand.

Selecting a torch

Open Edit → Machines, choose an Oxyfuel machine, and go to Torch. Three choices, each narrowing the next:

  • Manufacturer — only oxyfuel torches appear here. A plasma cutter can never be selected on an oxyfuel machine, and vice versa.
  • Torch — the tip series.
  • Torch Type — how the torch is plumbed. A 3-hose machine torch runs a separate preheat oxygen line with its own regulator; a 2-hose hand torch sets preheat off the cutting-oxygen regulator. This is what the published pressure columns key off, so it matters which one you pick.

The moment a torch is selected its charts exist. Open them with Cut Charts… in the Setup panel.

What ships

Victor 1-101 / 3-101 series, oxy-acetylene, mild steel, in both machine-torch and hand-torch plumbing. Twelve thicknesses from 1/8 inch to 12 inch plate. Each row carries:

  • Tip size — on oxyfuel the consumable changes with thickness, so the tip is part of the row rather than part of the torch.
  • Cut speed, Best and Production, and kerf width.
  • Preheat time and pierce delay — how long the flame soaks the spot, then how long it holds to burn right through.
  • Preheat height and cut height — the standoff to soak at, then the standoff to cut at.
  • Cutting oxygen, preheat oxygen and fuel gas regulator pressures, as the low–high bands the tip chart publishes.

Speeds, kerfs and pressures come straight from the published Victor tip chart. Preheat and pierce times are not published in tip charts — they depend on the torch, the fuel and the condition of the plate — so the shipped values scale with thickness as a sensible starting point and are the first thing worth tuning on your own table.

Tuning a chart

Cut Charts… opens the same editor Plasma uses: a tree by material and fuel gas on the left, the selected row's values on the right. Edit any field, add rows for a material the factory chart does not cover, or delete rows you never cut. Charts are stored per machine, so tuning one table does not touch another.

What is deliberately missing

There is no arc voltage, no THC target and no height-control setting anywhere in the oxyfuel workspace — not on the chart, not in Machine Config, not in the lead settings. A flame torch has no arc and no automatic height control, so rather than showing fields that can never mean anything, they are simply absent.
