Cut Simulation

At a glance

  • Play / Pause / Stop transport controls on the Sim Toolbar at the bottom of the viewport
  • DRO (Digital Readout) — live X, Y, Z position and feed rate in monospace format
  • Auto-detects units: 4 decimal places for inches, 3 for mm
  • Smooth feed rate display using exponential moving average — no jumpy readout during acceleration
  • 30 Hz position polling for fluid animation

Cut simulation runs your generated toolpaths through the JetFlight motion engine — real acceleration, real feed rates, real pierce dwells — so you can watch the job before metal moves. Press Play on the simulator controls and a tool sphere traces the program across the sheet, leaving a color-coded trail: one color while the torch is cutting, another for torch-off feed moves, and nothing at all during rapids.

Transport and DRO

Play, Pause, and Stop work like a real controller: Pause is a feed hold with a deceleration ramp, not a freeze, and Stop decelerates to zero before resetting — never a hard halt. While running, a monospace DRO shows live work position for each axis the machine profile defines, formatted to 4 decimal places in inches or 3 in millimeters, with a feed readout smoothed by a moving average so it doesn't jitter through acceleration. A Torch: On / Off badge flips with every pierce and cut, and a unit badge tracks whether the program is running in IN or MM.

Overrides

Feed and rapid override controls apply live, just like on the machine: feed from 10–200% in 10% steps, rapids from 25–100% in 25% steps. Both persist between sessions, so you can leave the simulator running at your usual override and see honest cycle times. It's a quick way to answer "what does this job cost me at 80% feed?" before committing — and to sanity-check pierce order and rapid moves from toolpath generation in motion rather than as a static drawing.
