Bounding-Box Manipulate

At a glance

  • Right-click any polyline, spline, or group → Manipulate to open the bounding-box editor
  • Corner handles: scale from corner; edge midpoint handles: scale along one axis
  • Center handle: translate the entire selection
  • Rotation ticks outside each corner: rotate about center
  • Bend handles (splines only): warp all control points along an arc curve
  • Shift to aspect-lock scale on splines; polylines always scale uniformly

Right-click a polyline, spline, or group and choose Manipulate… to wrap the selection in a bounding-box editor — the fastest way to size imported artwork, traced logos, or text to the part in front of you. It respects your current selection, so grab several entities first and they all transform together.

The handles

  • Corners scale the selection; the center square drags everything to a new spot.
  • Rotation ticks sit diagonally outside each corner — drag one to rotate about the box center, holding Shift to snap in 15° steps.
  • Edge midpoints (all-spline selections only) stretch along one axis.
  • Bend diamonds (all-spline selections only) sit farther out past the corners: drag one to warp every control point along a circular arc, like bending a strip of metal — the quick way to arch a traced logo.

Splines stretch, everything else stays true

When every selected entity is a spline, non-uniform stretch is allowed and Shift on a corner locks the aspect ratio. Any other selection — polylines, arcs, circles, or a mix — always scales uniformly from the corners, so arc segments stay circular and hole diameters stay honest.

Type it instead

The dialog carries live Width, Height, Scale %, Rotation °, and (splines only) Bend fields, so you can set a traced logo to exactly 4.500" wide instead of eyeballing a drag. Finish commits the result; Cancel puts every entity back exactly where it started.
