View HUD

Updated v2.3.7

At a glance

  • Bottom-center bar for how the scene renders — no menu hunting
  • Shading: solid or clean wireframe
  • Edges: visible-only, X-ray (show hidden edges), or off
  • X-ray solids (Light/Medium/Heavy) to work against hidden geometry
  • Scene helpers: toggle grid, ground, and origin axes
  • Isolate a body — press I over a part, or right-click it; exit restores your view
  • Quick-measure readout appears here when geometry is selected — see 3D Measure & Dimensions

The View HUD is a slim bar at the bottom-center of the 3D view that puts the common "how do I see this part" controls one click away. It only changes how the scene is drawn — it never touches your model or the saved file — and it slides out of the way of the status and error indicators automatically.

When geometry is selected, the bar also hosts the quick-measure readout — lengths, areas, angles, and distances for whatever you've clicked. See 3D Measure & Dimensions.

Controls

  • Shading — flip the whole model between solid and a clean wireframe to see through it while you work.
  • Edges — show only the edges you can see (the normal look), reveal the hidden edges through the part (X-ray), or turn edges off for a clean render.
  • X-ray — make solids see-through at Light, Medium, or Heavy so you can line things up against geometry tucked behind a face.
  • Scene — toggle the ground grid, the ground plane, and the origin axes independently; declutter for a screenshot or turn them back on to orient yourself.

Your shading, edge, scene, and X-ray choices are remembered between parts and sessions.

Isolate

Isolate focuses on a single body — everything else disappears — and puts it back exactly the way it was when you exit, including anything you hid or showed in the meantime.

  • Click Isolate on the bar and then click the body you want, right-click a body → Isolate body, or press I while hovering a part to isolate it instantly.
  • While isolated you can still turn other things back on; exiting always restores your original view.
  • Press I again (or use the bar / right-click) to exit. The I shortcut is rebindable in Settings → Hotkeys.
