Grouping System
At a glance
- Click any member of a group to select the entire group
- Hover any member to highlight all group members simultaneously
- Nested groups supported — groups can contain sub-groups at arbitrary depth
- Deleting group members cascades: empty parent groups are auto-removed
- Text and Generator output is always auto-committed as a named group
- Context menu: Group (2+ selected), Ungroup (one level), Ungroup All (flatten)
Groups make a pile of sketch entities behave as one object. Select two or more entities (or existing groups), right-click, and choose Group — from then on, clicking any member selects the whole thing, hovering one member highlights them all, and Shift-click deselects the group as a unit. A 40-contour traced logo moves like a single entity instead of splintering the moment you touch it.
Nesting
Groups can contain sub-groups to any depth: group a logo, group the logo with its border, group that with a label. Ungroup dissolves one level — the children go standalone but sub-groups inside stay intact — while Ungroup All flattens the whole tree back to loose entities in one shot.
Groups you get for free
Text commits every string as a group carrying the per-character anchors that power Text on Arc. Image-trace output and 2D Boolean results arrive grouped too, so multi-contour output is one grab from the start.
Deleting members
Delete entities out of a group freely: dimensions and constraints that referenced them are cleaned up, the members drop out of the group, and any group left empty is removed automatically — the removal cascades upward, so emptying the last sub-group tidies away its parents too. No zombie groups left in the file.
