License Sharing

At a glance

  • Share one Unlimited License hardware key with every JetCad3 on your local network — no unplugging or moving the key between machines
  • Turn it on under Settings ▸ License Sharing on the computer that has the key connected
  • Any office machine picks it up with one tap — signed in, offline-key, or never signed in at all
  • No seat limit — only computers on your local network can see it, so it stays inside your shop
  • See who's using it and disconnect any machine; set an optional passphrase for shared networks
  • Keep the key plugged in — if it's removed the borrowing machines drop back to their own tier, then reconnect automatically when it returns

If you own a Lifetime Unlimited License hardware key, License Sharing lets one key cover every machine in your shop. Plug the key into one computer, turn sharing on, and every other JetCad3 on the same local network can run the full Unlimited tier — no carrying the key from desk to desk.

Turn on sharing (the computer with the key)

On the machine that has your Unlimited License key connected, open Settings ▸ License Sharing and switch on Share this license on my network. That machine now offers the license to other JetCad3 installs on the same network. The tab shows the machines currently using it, with a Revoke button for each and a master switch to stop sharing at any time.

Leave the key plugged into this computer and keep the app running. If the key is unplugged or the computer goes offline, the machines borrowing the license simply drop back to their own tier within about a minute — and pick the license back up automatically when it returns.

Optional passphrase. For a shared or untrusted network, set a passphrase in the same tab. Machines then have to enter it once before they can use the license. Leave it blank and any computer on your local network can use the license with a single tap.

Use a shared license (your other machines)

Install JetCad3 on your office machines as usual. When a shared license appears on the network, a small Activate prompt slides in — one click and that machine is running Unlimited. You can also start it any time from the profile-picture menu → Use a Shared License, which lists every license server it can see on the network.

It works no matter how the machine is signed in — a jetcad.io account, an offline license key, the Free / Hobby option, or nothing at all. A machine even remembers its license server and reconnects on its own the next time you open JetCad3.

What sharing does — and doesn't — change

  • Your key is still yours. Sharing changes nothing about ownership: the key stays fully resellable and transfers with the hardware. Nothing is written onto the machines that borrow it — they only run the license while they can reach the sharing computer on the network.
  • Local network only. Only computers on the same local network can discover and use a shared license, so it stays inside your premises.
  • One key, your whole shop. There's no limit on how many machines can use one shared key at once.
